Back to Wastewater Treatment Facility Basis of Design Fundamentals
Bartt Booz, PE | Wright-Pierce

In keeping with the theme of this year’s 2020 FWEA Wastewater Process Seminar, this presentation will provide an overview of the essential information necessary to complete a sound Basis of Design for a successful wastewater treatment facility upgrade.  How do you define what success looks like?  How do you maximize the use of existing data and information, and how do you go about filling in the gaps to develop a design basis?  This presentation will summarize how to:  identify the purpose of a project, summarize discharge standards/permit limits that impact your project, evaluate flows and loads, review as-built information and its limitations, evaluate existing conditions and plant hydraulics, analyze alternatives and develop a preferred solution.   Lessons learned will be shared from successful past projects.
