Members of FWEA's Central Florida Chapter (CFC) and student groups from the University of Central Florida (UCF) will be visiting Orange County Utilities (OCU) Southern Regional Water Supply Facility for a plant tour. The water plant treats groundwater using ozonation, fluoridation and chlorination and is equipped with a 1.2 megawatt (MW) floating solar array on-site which generates electricity to send back into the grid. Throughout this tour, students will learn about water treatment plant unit processes and gain insight into ways Utilities implement sustainability in engineered systems!
