12:00 PM - 1:30 PM

Event Description
Please join us for our next General Meeting on July 15, where we welcome Mr. Craig Grossenbacher, Chief of DERM’s Water Resources Coordination Division. Mr. Grossenbacher will update participants on the Biscayne Bay and Southeastern Everglades Ecosystem Restoration (BBSEER) Project.

PRESENTATION: The Biscayne Bay and Southeastern Everglades Ecosystem Restoration (BBSEER) project is part of the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan, a federally authorized, cost-shared planning effort between the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the South Florida Water Management District. The primary goals of BBSEER are to improve the quantity, timing, and distribution of  freshwater to estuarine wetlands and nearshore areas in southern Biscayne Bay.  The presentation will include a brief overview and current status of the BBSEER project including a look at some of the features the planning team is considering along with a construction update on the Biscayne Bay Coastal Wetlands project, the foundation project to BBSEER that is currently in construction.  The evolving partnership between these CERP projects and Miami-Dade County’s Environmentally Endangered Lands program will also be described.
